About Imran Khan - (Punjabi and Urdu: عمران خان) (born 28th May 1984) is a songwriter, record producer and singer. He has been rated as #1 on the top 15desi artists of all time along at 83rd of the top 100 newcomers of 2007.
Releasing a single called "Ni Nachleh" (which also featured fellow singer Spyder) Khan achieved much appraise for the song, and was signed toPrestige Records in late 2007.
Khan was born and raised in The Hague to Pakistani Punjabi parents from Gujarat in Punjab. He is of Pakistani origin. Growing up in the Netherlands, he attended a local masjid quite frequently as a child, but became distant from the religion in 2009. In an interview with BBC Radio ASIA, Khan talked about how "the religion hasn't connected with him as an adult" and "that relying solely on religion will get you nowhere". The parents of Khan's young fans have criticised this, saying that "Khan's actions changed many children's religious beliefs". Khan apologised via Twitter, saying "he never meant to hurt anyone".
Imran Khan is regarded as one of the most "influential and hardworking" desi artists of the modern era. Known as the "desi king", Khan had stated in an interview with BBC RADIO ASIA in late 2007, Khan has said "the work I do, the music, the dance, the hype, is all for the fans. Ni Nachleh was just one song. I had no idea it would be as big as it is now. I hope that the fans support me the same way my parents have supported me."
